Mangaluru, Mar 4: Hours after daijiworld published a report about the installation of beacon light, flagstaff and name plate on his private car, Hyder Parthipady, president of district unit of Bharatiya Krishak Samaj, issued a clarification to daijiworld on the issue.
Speaking to daijiworld, Hyder said, "Bharatiya Krishak Samaj presidents in all the 16 districts of Karnataka have been directed to install beacon light, name plate and flagstaff in our cars by the Bharatiya Krishak Samaj based in New Delhi. Why is that complaint is only against me?
"If it is illegal, I am ready to remove the beacon and other additions any time. I spoke to the RTO and also produced necessary documents, and I have been told to remove the beacon light. But why is that presidents in other districts have not been told to do the same?
Asked if he would seek legal counsel in the case, he said, "As per the Motor Vehicles Act 1937, there was provision to install beacon lights. The Act was amended in 1989, and now I am not sure if it is permitted or not. I will look into the legal aspects, and if it is illegal, I will remove it."
Hyder also gave daijiworld relevant documents to support his statements.
He also informed that on April 3, the district unit of Bharatiya Krishak Samaj would be holding a farmers' rally.

Mangaluru, Mar 4: A complaint has been made to Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner about a private car using official name plate and staff without authorization.
The complaint states that a person named Hyder Parthipady from Deralakatte has been moving about in his private car which has been fitted with the nameplate of President, Bharatiya Krishak Samaj, New Delhi and also a flag staff with green flag.
The complainant has said that the accused has violated rules and regulations in proclaiming himself to be the president of a private organization, and using name plate and beacon. When the transport officer here asked Parthipady not to use the light and flag staff, he reportedly arrogantly questioned the transport officer about the permission given to superintendent of police to use yellow beacon atop his vehicle, and steps if any taken against him.
"Parthipady, who uses this car for attending meetings and functions, claims himself as Dakshina Kannada district president of Krishak Samaj, which he says, has been registered under Socities Act. Enquires made under Right to Information Act have revealed that the said Samaj has nothing to do with the government," the complaint states. The complainant has asked the deputy commissioner to attach the car in question and take legal steps against the person. The deputy commissioner has also been asked to look into the affairs of Krishak Samaj and clear the doubts in the minds of the general public.
