Mangaluru, Mar 5: In an accident which occurred in front of Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple at Bappnadu, Mulky, on the evening of Friday March 4, a pedestrian standing by the side of the road was killed instantly after a truck crushed him. The deceased was Ganesh Amin (66), a resident of Kolachikambla near Mulky.

Ganesh was working abroad in the past, and had settled down at his native place after retirement. On Friday, he had planned to visit Mulky town after paying obeisance at Bappanadu temple, and was waiting to cross the road after arriving at the point from where he was to cross the highway to reach the temple.

The force of the accident was such that Amin's body was found stuck inside the rear wheels of the truck. The body was later retrieved by lifting the truck with the help of a crane. Because of the accident, traffic on national highway 66 remained paralyzed for over an hour.

Police personnel from the city (north) traffic station and Mulky police worked to ease the situation and pave way for restoration of normalcy on highway at the earliest.
