Puttur, Mar 7: A person from Madikeri, who had hired a room in a lodge in the city, hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his room on the night of Saturday March 5.

The deceased has been identified as Purushotham PJ (38) from Kannandambane in Madikeri. He had been staying at the room since March 2. On Saturday night, he locked himself inside his lodge room and used a bed sheet to hang himself from the ceiling fan.

It is gathered that Purushotham had married seven years back, and within two years of marriage, his wife had committed suicide along with a small child. This incident had sapped his mental and physical faculities, and he had begun to work for a Mangaluru-based hotel thereafter, it is said. It is believed that the suicides by his close ones was playing on his mind ever since, and he decided to commit suicide out of unending frustration and depression over this incident.
