Mangaluru: MCC Bank Ullal branch shifts to new premises

Mangaluru, Mar 7: Mangaluru Catholic cooperative bank the prestigious bank of Dakshina Kannada district known as MCC Bank shifted its Ullal branch to Thokkottu R E B complex, Kurunadu constituency zilla panchayat member Mamatha D S Gatty inaugurated the new premises.















































Speaking on the occasion, Mamatha D S Gatty said that the service of bank's staff and the hard work of the management enabled shaping MCC Bank as the model bank. She hoped that the bank may earn a profit of more than Rs 100 crore in the future.

Setting the programme in motion, minister of health and family welfare U T Khader said that the bank is not confined to the rich. “It is necessary to create awareness that poor can also actively participate in the bank's affairs. Everybody should open bank account during childhood and operate the account. The bank will take us into confidence so that we may improve our finances,” Khader said.

“It is possible to borrow money from bank, be an entrepreneur and prosper. The bank has earned the trust of the people through their sixteen branches. Let the bank be helpful to the people to bring about financial revolution”, he added.

Permannur St Sebastian church assistant parish priest Fr Roopesh said that banks are as important as money in our lives. “Our lives will be free from tension only when we transact through banks.” he said. Ullal municipal council vice president Razia Ibrahim inaugurated the bank's jewel section and Corporation bank retired general manager C G Pinto inaugurated the bank's locker room.

MCC Bank president Francis Cutinho presided over the programme. In his address Cutinho said  “The bank was started a century back by service oriented founding members.  It has achieved a turnover of Rs 600 crore in 2015 -2016 financial year so far and is on the growth path. Presently the bank has core banking, RTGS, NEFT, ABB and CTS facilities. With demand from customers, SMS banking, online, SMS and NRI banking facilities will be introduced soon. The process in this direction has been already initiated. We have introduced some new measures to attract customers towards the bank like competitive interest rates. We have made arrangements for the speedy approval of housing and vehicle finance. We are giving special importance to enterprises which come under SME category with a lending rate of 11%. ,”

“Share capital has seen a growth of 30% while the banking turnover has increased by 10% with an increase of 24 % in profits. With these developments, we will spend the reserved 10 % of our profits for the betterment of society especially the upliftment of downtrodden. I am happy to inform you that we have packages which are beneficial to poor and medium class people.  We also have gold loans in this branch. Though there is competition in the banking sector, you people as customers have given us your support. We request the same in the future. I thank you all on behalf f the management for being our guests during this shifting ceremony.” Cutinho added.

Bank's vice president Alwyn Patrao, directors Denis D' Souza, Jerald D' Silva, Andrew D' Souza, Anil Lobo, Kishore D' Silva, Marcel D' Souza, Severine Lobo, Judy Pinto, Archy Menezes, Stephan Pinto and general manager Sunil Menezes were present among others.

Bank's director Melwin D' Souza welcomed. Staff Rayan Pravin Karkal compered the programme. Branch manager Amrith  B Kiran proposed vote of thanks.
