Mangaluru: Congress demands suspension of MP Anant Kumar Hegde

Mangaluru, Mar 7: The district Congress on Monday March 7 demanded the suspension of Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde for his remarks against Islam.

Condemning Hegde's statement in a press meet at the district Congress office here, Dakshina Kannada district interim president Ibrahim Kodijal said, "No religion supports terrorism and killing of innocents. Ananth Kumar Hegde does not know anything about Islam.

"Islam is a religion of peace. People of all communities have voted for Hegde, but he is speaking against the people who have voted for him. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi has respect for all communities and wants all religions to be safeguarded, Anant Kumar Hegde should be suspended from the party. Modi should follow the example set by Pandit Nehru. Communalisim is a threat to the country," he said.

"Being an educated people's representative, Hegde should be ashamed of making such uncivilized statements," he added.

"Intolerance has been increasing ever since the Modi government came to power. Intolerance is a threat to the nation," he opined.

MLC Ivan D'Souza, K S Mohammed Masood, Vinayaraj, Nazir Bajal and others were present.

    This is not the matter of agree or disagree of anybody. Protesting and asking of suspension of leader who told something about the particular religion. Instead of this please convey your feelings about terrorism to the youths who have involving themselves in the field of terrorism. Instead of this The so called leaders may advice the youth not to involve themselves in terrorism. All Political game.... If the scenario goes like this sure the India will not shine.

    I am not belonging to any party but am a patriot.I don't say whether BJP is correct or congress,other opposition party is correct? I am worried because nation's reputation,image is being sold out to foreign countries just because of JNU/Kanaihya Kumar issue,which is in fact unwanted,uncalled for and unjustified.If the opposition parties including congress really want the development,progress of the country,they could have helped the Prime minister's office by giving some valid,constructive opinions,ideas,solutions to address the issue rather than supporting it for flare/blow up beyond our imagination to address the issue rather than pouring oil on it.It clearly indicates their ego and selfish attitude to gain power back.So called opposition party members too living in the same sacred country where rest of the live.Under the circumstance,they should not allow the incident to blow up and sold the name,reputation and fame to other foreign countries.This is their third grade mentality to grab the power.Now a days we can not trust anyone in this world except God.Who too commits mistakes knowingly or unknowingly.

    What Mr. Ananth Kumar Hegde has said, has got some truth, why can't leaders, scholars form Muslim community, condemn those guys in India and around the Globe who defame Islam in the name of god, terrorizing people. Have a glance at whats happening in Syria, Iraq, Pakistan & Nigeria, you will get an answer.
    Islam is a religion of peace, but some radicals justify it by killing, beheading people in the name of god because they belong to other religion.

    Now what is happening in our political system i.e in so called biggest secular democratic country is exhibition of blame game. Criticization,blame game should be there to certain extent in order to rectify,correct the errors committed by any party in power.Without such healthy and constructive criticization,the nation or any individual cannot streamline their merits and demerits of their flaws.But derogatory or destructive criticisation definitely put the nation or us in great trouble or it might prove great disaster.Besides one should not talk filthy,abusive,immoral words against any religion,individual or nation whenever they are in power or out of power.Because the nation or country where we are living is very sacred and clean/pure.The nation does not think about whom to live in my place or whom not?.We are living in this country,eating,drinking,educating and prospering in this country then how can you blame your own country.It is like your mother.My humble request with all the public that whoever in the power or ruling the country,whether it BJP or congress or any other party allow them to function sincerely properly up to their mandate period.If you come across any flaws,malfunctioning,mistakes,errors in the functioning style,just point out to them so that they can rectify/correct it.Don't make political issue out of it.Because that government has been elected by the public not by the political parties along.Give your suggestions,opinions for the development of our own country.If you are not happy,then throw them out in the next general election.Wait until that period patiently.Accept the changes but don't go after the scams and amassing individual assets.That is selfish act.Work for the country,nation and the people of that country and prove to the world that we are super power.Let your selfish act,attitude go out from your mind.Jai Bharat

    Asked at a press conference about a number of youths from Bhatkal being linked to terrorism, Hegde had said that “as long as there is Islam in this world, there will be terrorism”.
    “Until we eradicate Islam from the world, we will not be able to eliminate terrorism from the world. Islam is a bomb placed to disrupt world peace. As long as there is Islam, there will be no peace in the world,” he said.


    I think he is living in fools paradise to say such foolish statement. He should be seriously sent to mental asylum for treatment.
