Mangaluru: Increasing missing complaints in DK district worry police

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Mar 8: The police department in Dakshina Kannada district is not happy with the increase in numbers of missing complaints registered at police stations in the district in the recent past. Most of the cases registered remaining unsolved, has become the biggest headache for the police department.

A total number of 366 missing complaints were lodged from 2014 to 2016. While deaths were reported in some cases,, most cases have remained mysteries to date with the police failing to make any breakthrough. 172 cases in 2014, 178 cases in 2015 and 16 cases in 2016 (Only two months) have been filed from various places of the district. Success rate in solving these cases is not satisfactory. For example, only 3 cases were solved in 2015.

In all these three years (2014 to 2016), most of the missing persons are youngsters. Mostly they were reported missing from colleges where they had gone for studies, or from workplace or when the just walked out from the houses they stayed. 95 cases in 2014, 94 cases in 2015 and 7 cases in 2016 are related to the youth from age category below 30 in the missing complaints registered in the district.

Police department has taken these facts seriously, sources said.

It is a reason for worry for sure. But who is responsible for this? These days children specially youngsters, college students dont care for their parents or teachers, so they do what they think is right. Corrections are hardly accepted by youth these days, they also know how to manipulate parents by emotional black mailing, hence situations go out of control.
I dont agree that people blame Police Force for everything. With shortage of staff, Police Dept also has many other situations to deal with. My opinion is that we parents are also to be blamed these days, because communication at home almost has taken a toll. We hardly have time to spare for our children, we have money but no love n time for our children. So our children tend to go drifting away to where they get a semblance of love. so it is a tricky but yes alarming situation.

missing of Young People has increased in the last years almost everywhere. Thanks to new media ,children try to comeout of their surroundings, think they know more than their parents, but dont know the danger outside awaiting them.once out ,are afraid to come back thinking parents will be angry or bet them.sometimes less marks in exams, bad friends circle, drugs too attract them.shining world with lot of Money a cause to findout whats new.when things go wrong, might land earn Money in some Clubs .Hardly some try to stand up and get back to their old surroundings. These days we know certain dalas, members try to attract Girls and Boys to join them promising Money ,Autos, weapons and send to foreign countrys, where you never hear from them anything .only few come back with bad experience. Here Police are not able to do anything.Better parents should teach values of a good home, not to pour Money in Hands but teach them to work or do something for their Money besides Godfearing.

Main heart-wrenching cause for many youngsters to run away from home in India is:

    My mother died

.Let you start count of missing... Mohan Kumar also known as Cyanide Mohan, is a serial killer who preyed on women looking for marriage. A Mangalore fast track court tried and convicted him for the murder of 20 women.

Case solved does not mean the person has come back or dead. Police should make an attempt to search or go in depth in the case. writing 100 page report does not solve the job. More investigation officers should be recruited.
