Accident - injured medical student succumbs to injuries

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Mathew Verghese (20), son of Vinod Verghese from Kannur, Kerala, who had been injured in a recent accident, lost his life in a hospital here on Tuesday March 8. He was a third year MBBS degree student of a medical college at Deralakatte.

The car Mathew was driving with his friends from Deralakatte to Kuthar had hit a roadside electric pole near Nityanandanagara after he lost control over the vehicle. Two students, Mathew and Sahmshad, had suffered serious injuries in the accident, whereas George Rohan, Kaushik Thomas and Raju, had suffered injuries of lesser degree. All the other students are recovering in the hospital.

A case in this connection stands registered in Ullal police station. It is gathered that the parents of the deceased students are well-known medical practitioners in Kerala, and his sister is studying in the first year MBBS degree course of the same medical college.
