Kundapur, Mar 13: The fire set near the Konkan railway tracks in Wakwady and Kavadi spread on the tracks on Saturday evening, March 12 causing panic and suspension of train services for three hours.

Fire was seen on Saturday evening near Konkan railway route at about 3 pm. Kundapur fire brigade personnel on obtaining information from local people successfully extinguished the fire.

Meanwhile fire seen in Kavadi spread till Madhuvana causing anxiety among people. Though fire brigade staff tried to come there, lack of road was a problem. Finally they managed to extinguish the fire.

Work of staff: As thick bushes of grass have grown near the tracks obstructing transport, the Konkan railway staff had set fire to them. However the breeze beyond their control made the fire spread. As there are cement plates on the tracks, there was no loss.

The trains which were informed of the fire were suspended for three hours. That caused problems at the crossing also. The trains on the route were delayed by about 6 to 7 hours.
