Mangaluru: Attempt to loot man posing as pimps, two arrested

Mangaluru, Mar 13: Police have arrested two persons in city for attempting to loot a man after luring him with the promise of ‘providing a girl’.

Chandrashekar and Narayana are the persons arrested.

Shafi Ahmed (25) who is a ginger merchant had come to KSRTC bus stand at Lalbhag area from Baikampady on business. Chandrashekar who met Shafi there said that he would provide him a girl. Shafi agreed went with Chandrashekar and Narayana in car to see the ‘girl.’ On the way at Padil, Chandrashekar demanded money from Shafi. Shafi did not agree to give money in advance.

Chandrashekar behaved rudely with Shafi. Shafi somehow managed to get out from the car and met CCB police on the road by chance. After Shafi told the police his ordeal, CCB police put a trap and asked Shafi to phone Chandrashekar.

Chandrashekar, who thought Shafi changed his mind, came to the spot with Narayana to be arrested by the police. Later the duo was handed over to Barke police station. The incident happened on Friday night.

On Saturday, Barke police produced Chandrashekar and Narayana in court and the court sent the duo to judicial custody.

Chandrashekar has been involved in cheating for a long time, it is said.
