Tumakuru, Mar 14: "The government has not yet made sincere efforts to do justice to IAS officer, D K Ravi, who died under mysterious circumstances a year ago. The government has not even disbursed the compensation announced. It has not shown any commitment to address this issue," complained Ramesh, brother of D K Ravi, an able and sincere officer who ostensibly committed suicide a year ago.

He was speaking after the family members and relatives of Ravi offered worship at the spot where Ravi was cremated near the family home in Doddakoppalu village near Kunigal in the district on Sunday March 13 on Ravi's first death anniversary.

"Although an IAS officer was known for his concern for the people, honesty, and sincerity died, the government has not taken steps to disburse any compensation. I has not lent an ear to our problems, nor has there been any appreciable progress in the investigation entrusted to Central Bureau of Investigation. Our family is facing financial crisis. We have borrowed money to perform rituals on first death anniversary of Ravi. We are determined to build a tomb in his memory even if we have to sell our agricultural land for this purpose," he added.

Hundreds of people had come from different districts including Kolar and Bengaluru to pay respects to the deceased officer. A Kannada work written by M K Chandru from Kundapura, who is currently based in Bengaluru, about thelife and achievements of Ravi was released on the occasion.

Mother of Ravi, Gowramma, also expressed her anguish at the neglect shown towards the family by the government, adding that jewellery items were pledged to organize this programme.

Speaking at Chikkamagaluru, state home minister, G Parameshwar, stated that he has already brought to the notice of minister, Jayachandra, about the plight of Ravi's family. He expressed confidence that the chief minister will positively respond to the demands of the family on humanitarian grounds.
