Bantwal: Municipal president, deputy to take charge on Monday

Bantwal, Mar 14: The municipality here will be headed by a new team of office bearers including president from Monday March 14 onwards. Congress municipal councilor, Ramakrishna Alva, has been chosen to head the municipality during the second term of its current tenure, while another Congressman, Muhammed Nandarabettu, will take charge as the vice president.

They will be administered oath of office at a function being organized for the purpose at 11 am today. District in-charge minister, Ramanath Rai, will be present. Both were chosen at a meeting held in the municipal auditorium on Thursday.

Ramakrishna Alva (54), a science graduate, is an agriculturist by profession. He has been elected to the municipality for the second time. His deputy, Muhammed, who too is a second time councilor, happens to be a long time close friend of Alva. They are neigbours, and happen to be good volleyball players. Both are agriculturists, and Muhammed holds BA degree.
