Giri visiting city for Infosys interview killed by falling brick

Bengaluru, Mar 16: A young lady who had come to the city for attending the walk-in interview of Infosys Ltd was killed by a brick which fell from an under construction building at J P Nagar here.

Monica (23) from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh lost her life in this stray incident which occurred near Mini Forest in J P Nagar.

Monica, who had completed B Sc degree in computer science, had arrived here along with a relative. She had come a day earlier and stayed with her aunt at Garvebavi Palya here. On Tuesday, both Monica and her relative had completed interview formalities. But her relative, who had forgotten to bring his identify proof while coming for the interview, rushed home to fetch it. Monica started chatting on cellphone when waiting for the return of her relative. As the staff objected to her cellphone conversation and asked her to move out before using mobile phone, she started walking on the road and reached near an under-construction building. A brick which accidentally fell from the third floor of the building hit her on the head. Although she was immediately taken to NIMHANS hospital, she did not survive.
