Kasargod, Mar 17: An incident in which an eight-year-old girl was abducted and abandoned by the wayside near Kuntaru near Manjeshwar in the district has given rise to suspicions.

The girl who happens to be the daughter of a person living near the Anganwadi centre at Kuntaru village, was found to have been deserted near the Anganwadi on Tuesday morning. Her legs and hands were found to have been bound by wild creepers. The locals who saw the girl, conveyed information to her family and police station. Policemen from Adoor station arrived at the spot and questioned the girl.

The girl says that a four-member gang which arrived in a black car had tried to abduct her. When she resisted the attempt, she said, she was bound with creepers by them before dropping her off near the Anganwadi building. Adoor police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
