Udupi, Mar 17: A unique example of a noble gesture was witnessed on the streets here when students from the city's women's college collected contributions in aid of their schoolmate on March 16. Braving the scorching sun more than a hundred female students walked the streets of the city and Manipal to collect funds to help their schoolmate suffering from a deadly anaemia.

Daijiworld had published a detailed report about the talented first year BCom student, Geetha Kudugolu of Udupi Women's College and resident of Brahmagiri, suffering from a deadly disease, Sickle Cell Anaemia and requested for help from donors. The entire college management and students stood by her. As the management and social worker Vishu Shetty had joined them, they were able to collect a sizeable amount. However, they are in need for more funds for her treatment and recovery.

Geetha in her recent report and request in Daijiworld had stated that she needs Rs 15 lac for treatment at CMC Hospital, Vellore, Tamilnadu. So far Rs 1 lac has been collected and Rs 14 lac is required. The management of the college and student community have joined together to collect money from different parts of Udupi on Thursday March 17. The victim Geetha, her mother Sheela and the student community have requested for donations from kindhearted individuals and organizations. They have also conveyed their gratitude through Daijiworld to those who have donated for this noble cause.
