Mangaluru, Mar 24: The vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Dr K S Ravindranath inaugurated the new 1.5 Tesla MRI unit of the Indiana hospital in the hospital premises on Thursday, March 24.
In his inaugural address, Dr K S Ravindranath propagated the need to include the poor and the weaker sections of the society by the private hospitals. "The poor prefer to go to the government hospitals due to the cheap treatment. But since they lack major diagnosis facilities, it becomes necessary for the private hospitals to treat them. The poor should not be deprived of treatment. In this regard, the government of Karnataka has introduced various schemes to facilitate their treatment in the private hospitals. I urge Indiana hospital to facilitate the quality treatment available in the hospital to help the poor patients."
"When a patient comes to the hospital, he must be given all types of diagnosis under one roof. Hence the new MRI unit has been added to the quality facilities already available in the hospital. Due to the advance technologies, the life of doctors has become easy. Now we can diagnosis diseases more precisely and early with the help of advanced equipment and treat the diseases accordingly." he added.
The chief guest of the function, the chancellor of Nitte University, Dr Vinay Hegde speaking on the occasion said "Today medical radiology is an essential part of the diagnosis. The new MRI installed will increase the treatment standards of the hospital. I urge the Kumble brothers to establish a clinic in the Middle East and pave the way for the medical tourism. As there are good number of medical colleges in the region and medical tourism is essential to increase the number of patients."
The managing director of Indiana Hospital Yousuf Kumble said "Through the new MRI unit we have increased our diagnosis standards. We believe in quality and we do not want to disappoint any patient who comes here for the tertiary healthcare. In the future, we are also planning to establish the paramedical training institute to have quality technical officials."
