Kasargod: Petrol bunk robbery - accused arrested

Kasargod, Mar 28: In connection with the robbery of a petrol bunk at Poinachi in the district a few days back, the police personnel of Vidyanagar station here have arrested the accused.

A youth riding a scooter had approached the petrol bunk at Poinachi at around 4 am on March 14 in the guise of seeking small change. He suddenly attacked petrol bunk employee, Sunil Kumar, snatched Rs 30,173 kept in the table, and had fled, the complainant had alleged.

The arrested accused happens to be K B Muhammed Rajhik (20) from Chala in Vidyanagar here. The scooter used for the act also stands confiscated.

The incident had been recorded in the CCTVs installed in the bunk. During the verification conducted with the help of cyber cell, the police could trace the culprit. As Rajhik had fled to Mumbai immediately after the above robbery and then to Ernakulam, he could not be taken into custody. The police, who got to know that he was returning to the town from Ernakulam on Saturday night, waited for him and took him into custody.

Rajhik already faces another case relating to robbing cash from a person. Further investigation is on.
