Sullia, Mar 30: In an accident which occurred late night on Monday March 28 at Enmoor Muchchila in the taluk on the road between Nintikallu and Subrahmanya, a student who was riding his motor bike was killed on the spot. The pillion rider, who suffered serious injuries, has been hospitalized at Mangaluru.

The deceased was Muhammed Zaheer (18), a SSLC student. He was the son of Hasainar from Peruvaje village near Bellare. Irshad from Peruvaje village, who was riding the pillion, sustained serious injuries. The friends were returning home at around 2 am on Tuesday after taking part in the annual Swalat programme of the mosque at Muchchila when tragedy struck.

The car driver fled immediately after the accident. Zaheer, who was tossed on to the road, died on the spot. He was good at studies, and was to appear for SSLC examination at Mangaluru today after getting trained through a private turotial at Bellare. It is gathered that he has invited his friends for joint study at night at the tutorial on Monday, but the friends had declined, citing erratic power supply. As such, he visited Muchchila with friend. Fate, it transpires, had other plans.

Zaheer is survived by parents, four brothers, and a sister.
