Kasargod, Apr 5: After a backhoe fell into a pond at Periya Cherkappara in the district on Monday April 4, a youth lost his life, and the driver of the backhoe suffered serious injuries. It is said that the tragedy occurred after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
The tragedy occurred when digging the backyard of a house in Cherkappara at around 4 pm on Monday. After the vehicle fell into the pond along with two persons, locals rushed to their rescue, brought them out, and rushed them to hospital. But Sachin could not be saved.
Sachin (18), was the son of Madhava from Chennekoppa in Hassan district. Sanjay (26), who has taken a house on rent at Kuni, and who was operating the backhoe, sustained grievous injuries. He was admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru.
A case stands registered about the incident.
