Govt green-lights Rs 1,622-cr highway project in state


New Delhi, Apr 6 (DHNS): The Centre approved construction of the four-laning of national highway 63 from Hosapete-Ballari-Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh border section with the investment of Rs 1,622-crore on Wednesday.

The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved building of the project on engineering, procurement and construction basis.

“The total investment of the project includes cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities,” the statement said.

The total length of the road will be approximately 95.37 km. The government said about 3,88,728 man-days will be generated locally during the construction period of the highways, in line with the estimate that 4,076 man-days are required for building one kilometre of highways.

Improvement of infra

The main objective of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in Karnataka and also in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying on the Hosapete-Ballari-Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh Border sector of NH-63.
