Inability to perform annual festival - officer apologizes for lapse

Udupi, Apr 7: Administrative officer of Lord Vishweshwara Temple at Yellur in the taluk, Praveen B Nayak, apologized for the lapse of not performing annual festival relating to to renovation and Brahmakalashasbhisheka of the temple, which should have been conducted on March 12. He also prayed the presiding deity of the temple to condone the lapse. "We will convene meeting of the devotees from the region on February 12 next year and efforts will be made to celebrate the event in a grand fashion. A sum of two lac rupees would be set aside in the budget this time for celebrating annual festival as above. We request the devotees to cooperate with us," he said.









Nayak was speaking at a meeting of devotees from Yellur held at the temple premises on Wednesday April 6.

Dignitaries from the area, who were present at the meeting, demanded for presenting the accounts of the temple in the village meeting. They also urged for publishing list of rates for services at the temple and to computerize all kinds of services and receipts. They asked for convening of a meeting of people from the command area of the temple, and to elect people to temple managing committee, and also to form service advisory committee.

The devotees pointed out that reconstruction of auditorium of the Yuvaka Mandal, fixing of remuneration to temple staff in tune with government instructions etc were not done, and asked these items to be attended on priority.

Immediate past president of temple executive committee, Y Prafulla Shetty,Pavitrapani representing Kundantaya lineage, Janapada scholar, K Kundantaya, Kunjur Goddess Durga temple executive committee immediate past president, Nadimane B Devaraja Rao, leaders like Praveen Bhoja Shetty, Arayimane Ratnakar Shetty, Kenja Sridhar Tantry, Y Yashwant Shetty, Dr Deviprasad Shetty, Srivatsa Rao, Nadimane B Vadiraja Rao, Badikeri Haridas Rao, executive officer, Prashant Kumar Shetty, manager, Raghavendra Bhat, and devotees were present.
