Mangaluru, Apr 8: “It is a well known fact that audio programmes broadcasted on radio are aired smoothly without interruption. However, many factors such as the preparation by the artistes behind the curtain, their efforts and hardships also go with it. 36 years of my service as radio announcer and narrator with the cooperation of H V Ramachandran and other colleagues in the station and my family has provided me immense satisfaction. I had an opportunity to provide a variety of programmes. It has been a platform for my hobbies making me experience life to a large extent. My positive attitude, good friends and reading habits have played their part in making me confident,” said retired Akashvani announcer Shakuntala R Kini.

She shared her true experiences during her service under the topic 'My experience of three and a half decades over the radio' on the 8th anniversary of 'Radio Listener's Club, Mangaluru'.

District SP Dr S D Sharanappa suggested to the students appearing for competitive examinations to listen to special news bulletins over the radio for useful information.

Shubha Jayaram Bhat and Sharanappa felicitated Shakuntala Kini and her husband Raghavendra Kini on the occasion.

A free radio was presented to Sheshappa. Prabhath Gokhale said a prayer. Savithri Rama Rao welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. U Rama Rao proposed the vote of thanks. P Ravindra Rao, B Prakash Rao and K V Seetharam were present.
