Udupi: Bicycle-borne old man knocked by auto to death

Udupi, Apr 21: An aged man was killed after an auto rickshaw which came from behind hit his bicycle opposite Abbaga-Daraga Alade on Old MBC Road at Hejamady Bastipadpu near Padubidri on the night of Tuesday April 19.

Kutty Poojary (74), who was operating a hotel at Hejamady Gundi, died in this accident. After closing the hotel at night, he was returning to his home at Kannangar Bypass in his bicycle when an auto rickshaw which came from the direction of Mulky knocked him down.

Kutty, who was smashed to the road due to the impact, had suffered serious injuries to his head. He was admitted into a private hospital at Mukka. Efforts made there to save him failed, and he breathed his last on Wednesday.
