Bengaluru, Apr 22: State BJP president and former chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, said that the state government has resorted to politics of vengeance by deciding to appeal against the high court decision to dismiss denotification cases against him. "The people will give them a fitting reply in the coming days. I do not get disturbed by such developments," he stated

Speaking to reporters on Thursday April 21, he noted that the government, which remained silent for six months since the high court verdict, has been shaken after he was made the state BJP president. "Because of this fear, it has taken initiative to go on appeal to the Supreme Court. There is no question of me getting intimidated by such tactics. The state government appears to believe that it can restrain me by getting me face court cases," he added.

Yeddyurappa said he reposes highest confidence in the judiciary of the country and exuded confidence of getting the cases dismissed at the Supreme Court. "A number of chief ministers including the current one and many in the past have denotified land. In the interest of farmers, I too had denotified land, and there was nothing illegal in it. When I was the chief minister, I never indulged in hate politics. But it is now open secret that the current chief minister has resorted to revenge politics," he stated.

BJP leader and leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council, K S Eshwarappa, too criticized the government for deciding go on an appeal against Yeddyurappa's acquittal. "As per Lokayukta report, a sum of Rs 23 crore was to be recovered from former chief minister, Dharam Singh, for losses caused to the state exchequer. The state government should go to court against him too," he said.

In the meanwhile, the state high court, through an interim order, has issued a 12-week stay against the summons issued to Yeddyurappa by the Lokayukta special court at Shivamogga in a case of encroachment of forest land. The single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice H Billappa, which heard the petition filed by Yeddyurappa seeking cancellation of the above summons, passed this order.
