Karkala: Theft at lecturer's home - loss Rs 5.28 lac

Karkala, Apr 25: Thieves entered the house of a lecturer in the town and went away with jewellery items worth Rs 5.28 lac, as per a complaint filed in the town police station here.

It is said that the thieves gained entry into the house, 'His Grace', located near Gandhi Maidan here and stole 525 grams of gold ornaments by breaking open the lock of the house. Owner of the house, Telma Rita Raskinha, was away at Bengaluru.

It is said that Telma (45), a lecturer of Sanoor PU college, was on a visit to Bengaluru in connection with PU answer sheets evaluation work. She had left for Bengaluru on April 19, and found out about the burglary during her visit to her home on April 19.

In addition to gold, silver items valued at Rs 2,000 and cash amounting a thousand rupees were taken away. The complainant has put the total amount so lost at Rs 5.28 lac.
