Mangaluru, Apr 25: A Condolence meeting was held at Don Bosco mini hall in city on Sunday, April 24 to mourn the sad demise of Lancy Pinto Nayak who passed away recently.

Several Konkani writers and artists offered their condolences to the famous Konkani writer and dramatist Lancy Nayak Pinto in the meeting.

Veteran Konkani writer Dolphy Cascia spoke about the deceased writer initially. He said "Lancy Nayak always wanted the Konkani writers to be united. He urged for the association of the writers and also took the initiative in building the association. His writings and memories will always be with us even though he is not amidst us physically."

Renowned Konkani writer Dr Edward Nazareth said "Lancy Nayak was a writer who wrote according to the taste of people. He took up simple subjects and wrote about them after making deep researches on the topics. He always relied on depth of his reading. His writings were realistic and hence were liked by people."

The writers and artists also paid floral tribute to the portrait of late Lancy Pinto Nayak.

Editor-in-chief of Daijiworld weekly Hemacharya, dramatists John Permannur, Adolphus Cutinha, writers Eddie Netto, Manu Bahrain, CJS Taccode, Machcha Milar, David D'Souza, Richie Moras and Herolpius were present among others.

The gathering offered condolences to drama artist Joyline Monis who passed away recently. Her father John Monis editor of Konkani monthly 'Dirvem' was present.
