Bengaluru, Apr 26: The ruling Congress party has finalised its candidates for elections from three teachers and two graduates constituencies’ to the Karnataka Legislative Council, scheduled to be held in June.
The Congress high command has cleared names of Mahantesh Koujalagi, incumbent MLC, for North West Graduates, H N Ravindra for South Graduates, Ningappa Basappa Bannur for North West Teachers, Basavaraj Gurikar for Karnataka West Teachers’ and Niranjan for South East Teachers constituencies.
The Election Commission has not announced the calendar of events for holding elections.
However, the party high command has cleared names to enable candidates to enrol graduates and teachers in the electoral roll, the Congress party sources said.
The party has given tickets to fresh candidates, except Koujalagi, for contesting elections.
