Bengaluru, May 1: The state high court on Saturday upheld an order of the Udupi district additional civil court which had awarded a compensation of Rs 22, 10,000 and 6 % interest to the family of the victim of Muloor accident.

In an accident which had taken place on 12 November 2010 on the NH 66 at Muloor near Narayana Guru temple, a container truck had collided with the bike. As a result, the rider and the pillion rider Mohammed Masood had died.

Mohammed Masood’s family had gone to court saying the insurers of the container truck should pay the compensation as the driver of the truck was responsible for the death of Mohammed due to negligence and careless driving. The Udupi court had awarded Rs 22.10 lac compensation to the family and asked the insurer Bharathi Axa to pay the same to the family of Mohammed Masood with 6 % interest.

Bharathi Axa had gone to the High Court with an appeal on the said verdict of the Udupi court. The High Court dismissed the appeal and upheld the verdict of the Udupi civil court. Asadulla Katpadi and Rajesh A R had argued the case on behalf of the family in the lower court.
