Mangaluru, May 4: Some miscreants set fire in the dried-up parts of river Netravati here on Tuesday May 3.

The incident took place at Panemangaluru near here. Grass has grown on the sand where there is no water. Some miscreants set ablaze the grass on Tuesday.

As per information, illegal sand mining is prevalent in the area.

"The miscreants must have done this with the intention of destroying the grass for the purpose of sand mining," some locals alleged.
