Man accompanying patient goes wild, breaks board, uses foul language

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 6: In an incident which occurred at the Vamanjur primary health centre here on Tuesday, a person who had accompanied a patient to the centre created a din, got engaged in verbal duel with the staff, tried to assault the staff there, and whiled away time although he was advised to take the patient to Wenlock Hospital.

The doctor at the hospital, after examining the patient, had advised the person, identified as Muhammed Siliyan, to take the patient, Usman (28) to Wenlock Hospital. Even after being given this advise, Muhammed continued to loiter around the premises of the health centre for over 40 minutes. When he was questioned about his inaction, he reportedly went wild, used obscene words against the staff there, tried to assault them, and in the process, broke the board of the centre. He also posed life threat to the concerned.

Medical officer of the said primary health centre, Renuka, had checked the health condition of Usman at around 10.45 am on May 3. After examining the patient, she advised Muhammed to take Usman to the district Wenlock Hospital as he was in need of advanced treatment. After finding that Muhammed and the patient continued to be inside the premises of the health centre even after 40 minutes, the medical officer and staff questioned him. It is said that the accused became angry and used derogatory language besides trying to attack them.

In a complaint filed in the rural police station here, the medical officer said that Muhammed not only entered the hospital, but also broke the board and threatened to burn down the building. He also is said to have posed death threats to Renuka and other staff of the centre.

Here we should not hear one side Story.First place doctors who examine the Patient we know from experience doesn't clear the Patient properly what he has and why he should be taken to other Hospital.when they say advanced therapy, one who doesn't know any medical Terms, understand only other Hospital, more Money. They should have helped him to or call the wenlock Hospital and asst, him to Transport.Afterall wenlock is a govt.hospital ,a ambulance would have helped him to Transport.when the accompanying Person must have had some mental sickness ,so got wild.At that Moment personal should have react immediately and cool down the Person.not more make them aggressive.Who knows when they had their meals.sometimes a hungry man is a angry man applies here.

well before we put this news online we must understand a mental state of this man. probably he got heastiric when he was told to go to bigger hospital thinking about the consequence. Hospitals staff must be trained properly to handle this kind of individuals. Goo d counselling will be better than taking to police.

Doctors should stop treating or examining these "wild" people as they might attack the Doctor's themselves.

Both the sides should be heard.40 minutes time is quite long enough. Hospital authorities could have rendered assistance to take the patient to Mangaluru. Could have contacted Police, social workers/ organisations, after all hospitals are meant for rendering services to the needy.
