Sashihitlu beach is the best around Mangalore. In my view it is even better than Panambur, Thannirbhavi, Baikampady, Kulai, Hosabettu & Surathkal & Mukka beaches. The best part is that there is no crowd on Sunday evening and it is beautiful to gaze at the sea just by sitting on the sand. There is a point where the river meets the sea at Sashihitlu ( overlooking Hejmadi fishing port ) which is mind boggling. Migratory birds too flock there to breed. Cars can drive upto this point.

Sashihitlu Beach is flat for almost 75 - 100 meters. The beach is beautiful and unspoiled. The end point of sashihitlu has a very scenic view where the river meets the sea. Absolutely its NIRVANA POINT.

Mr.Suvarna, a lot of people , students etc come there on saturday and sunday. They throw plastic bags, empty beer bottles, cigarette packets, empty liquor bottles, empty mineral water bottles etc. The place is being misused after sunset by youngsters who come on 2 wheelers and cars. The area needs police patrolling i feel.

There is immense scope for developing water-sports & tourism in coastal Karnataka.

The only ingredients required to be added without further delay are, political will, proper planning & plan implementation, which would result in a "Win-Win situation for all concerned, in Karnataka. Potential for "Kickbacks" may not at all be appealing.
