Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (RD)

Bantwal, Oct 24: Since all the twelve eye-witnesses turned hostile at the court hearing, in the four-year-old case of Isubu’s murder at Kalladka; court has acquitted all the accused including Vittal MLA Padmanabha Kottari.

Isubu, the owner of a bicycle shop at Kalladka was murdered in the night of August 18, 2003 when he was on his way home after closing the shutters of his shop.  Bantwal police had arrested Padmanabha Kottari, Radhakrishna Adyantaya, Manoj, Dayanand Nayak, Jaya Nayak, Jayaram, Yogeesh, Ashok, Vasant Poojary, Prabhakar, Ratnakar Shetty, Narayan Somayaji and had registered case in this regard.

The law and order situation across the taluk was disturbed owing to the murder of Isubu.  The politicians had tried to exploit the situation.  Isubu’s families were showered with empathy from one and all.

However, the situation has totally changed now.  Those eye witnesses who informed the police that they were on the spot turned hostile during the court hearing.  Accordingly all the accused were acquitted by the court.

Politics in DK has sunk to a new low. Not only was the BJP MLA the prime accused, but has also ensured that he and his friends were acquitted with witnesses suddenly turning hostile. Incidentally, it looks like this episode is the MLA's only claim to fame. His educational background is non-existent, and he has done absolutely nothing of note after getting elected. But the BJP need not worry at all. All it has to do is create another round of division and ensure people like him elected again There was a time when a politician was elected in the district based on his/her qualifications and commitment to development. Now, it looks being involved in a few criminal cases and riots is a major criteria for getting elected.

And three cheers to the judiciary for delivering justice to the needy. I guess they can publish a cook book on how to get away with murder. Witness turning hostile, It reminds me of what happened in Gujarath. With justice like this, our country and Mangalore for sure has a bright future.

Congratulations to the BJP for managing to evade sentence in yet another murder case. Congratulatons to Mr. Padmanabha Kottari, the MLA for the acquittal. The party has rightly noticed his various "skills" and has elevated him to the post of MLA. I am sure he has a bright future ahead in the party. So what if Isubu's family hasn't received justice? This surely has helped the party gain extra votes, even if a few dead bodies lay here and there. In fact, I think the BJP should make it mandatory that contenders for the party ticket should have been acquited in at least one case of murder and rioting. This will help it immensely in dealing with opponents. Last but not the least, congratulations to the party's supporters for electing such a great man to the assembly.
