Mangaluru: Pedestrian killed in road accident near Pavanje

Mangaluru, May 17: A pedestrian was killed after a car knocked him down near Pavanje on the evening of Sunday May 15. The deceased happened to be Kadya (60), a resident of Kondemoola near Kateel.

Kadya was going to attend the Chelairu Khandige annual fair when he met with an accident. This spot on the national highway 66 near Pavanje has been identified as an accident-prone zone. Several accidents have occurred there involving pedestrians crossing the road. Locals therefore have demanded setting up of barricades there.

After the accident, people found it impossible to reach the car for some time as hot engine oil had leaked onto the road during the accident. A case about the accident has been registered at the traffic police station, Suratkal.
