Udupi: DC Vishal briefs about Nirmiti Kendra’s overall work, net profits

Udupi, May 18: Deputy commissioner R Vishal briefed about the overall construction works done by Nirmiti Kendra and declared the net profit details at DC’s office Rajathadri Manipal on Wednesday May 18. 

 

As per the annual report of Udupi Nirmiti Kendra in 2011-12, the number of works done was 221 with a total turnover of Rs 27, 53, 34, 688.00. This increased in 2015-16 where as many as 410 works were completed with a turnover of Rs 36,16, 08,818.00. In 2016-17, the department has taken up 107 works so far. 

Nirmiti Kendra also takes up socially relevant activities out of its total net profits. Out of the annual profits, about 5-10% of amount is utilized for the CSR. A committee was set up to finalize and approve the proposals of CSR. 

The first CSR project that is implemented during the current financial year is ‘Spandana’ a new building for mentally challenged children (for male adults) at a cost of Rs 10,00,000 in Uppoor village of Udupi. The work was completed under the aegis of Chaitanya Charitable Trust.

DC Vishal also informed that Udupi Nirmiti Kendra was the first tax exempted centre in state. 

“The Nirmiti Kendra has become fully digitalized centre with process of indexing, cataloguing scanning and documenting.  All works undertaken by it are checked by a third party independently.” 

“The district authority wants to protect water sources such as river and ponds. Hence, suitable actions will be taken by Udupi development authority in this regard. Department can smoothly conduct work up to Rs 2 crore without issuing any tender,” he added.
