Udupi, May 20: “Auto rickshaw drivers play an important role in society. Good behaviour of auto drivers of any area can build good opinion of that region,” said superintendent of police Annamalai in an interaction session at Lecture hall, Manipal University on Friday May 20.

The program was jointly organized by Manipal University, Udupi district Police, Regional transport office and Auto service providers.

“All public places should have good auto rickshaw transportation. People avail auto service without any differences of rich and poor. The auto drivers should fix charges for the wee hours. Manipal is known for good education and health service. So people or tourists, who come from faraway place, depend on auto services.”

“Auto drivers should provide good service to their customers with courteous behaviour. Do not take double charges than the fixed rate,” SP advised.

Narayan Sabhahit, MU Manipal in his inaugural address said, “People need auto service. Many people from various states visit Manipal. Auto drivers need to manage everything with patience and adjust with customers.”

SP saab, we also have rude rickshaw drivers in Kaup as well who refused to take certain passengers. They are choosy in selecting passengers. Some even demand charges more than what is nominal. And important point is,whole town of Kaup is filled with Bus Stand,Tempo Stand,Taxi stand and Rickshaw stand unlimited. There is hardly any parking for visitors. This place really requires to be organized well.
