Udupi: Accident near Kaup - pedestrian killed

Udupi, May 21: After a car knocked down a person who was standing by the roadside near Bicco factory at Uliayargoly near Kaup on the night of Thursday May 19, he was killed. Vijay Poojary (46), a resident of Kaup Uliyargoly lost his life in this accident.

Poojary used to work for a bar. He had come back from the place of work by a bus and had alighted at Uliyargoly. He was about to cross the road, when a car moving towards Udupi from the direction of Kaup hit him hard. He was tossed away on to the road and suffered serious injuries.

A local, Ashok Poojary, immediately rushed Vijay to a hospital in the city. But Vijay had breathed his last before reaching the hospital, it is gathered.

Kaup police have registered case against car driver. Investigation has been undertaken.
