Udupi: Young married woman ends life near Padubidri

Udupi, May 22: Divya (22), residing in the new colony at Inna, ended her life on Saturday May 21 at her home when no one was around. She used a lungi to hang herself.

Divya was the wife of Rajesh Poojary from Bantwal, who works as tipper truck driver.

Only the couple lived in the house. On Saturday, Rajesh had left home for work, after which the lady killed herself. On getting information, tahsildar of the taluk, Raghavendra, visited the spot and took up investigation. It is gathered that Divya went through three abortions and recently also underwent a surgery.

Her maternal uncle, who raised Divya and always had been her caretaker, said that the lady had never shared her grief over not bearing children with him. In his complaint, he has asked the policemen to investigate this death in detail.

Postmortem of the body was conducted at KMC Hospital, Manipal. Padubidri police said they will take further steps in the matter after receiving postmortem report.
