Bhatkal, May 27: BJP members of Bhatkal condemned the statement of MLA Mankalu Vaidya who said that there are no terrorists in Bhatkal and asked the union government to conduct investigations and identify them.

In a press conference, BJP district secretary Govinda Naika said, “In Kedambadi Jagannath Shetty commission report regarding Bhatkal unrest, it was stated that terrorism has very strong root in Bhatkal. Bhatkal origin Yasin Bhatkal, Jainulla and others were arrested for terrorism related activities.”

“The investigating agencies are conducting independent inquiries which are in progress. The MLAs have given irresponsible statement despite knowing these things. It is definitely wrong.”

“The MLAs are losing faith of people day by day as they try to please a particular community. If the MLAs have the courage, let them discuss the matter in Vidhana Sabha. Let them urge the state government to conduct investigations in Bhatkal.”

“If the MLAs continue with the statement, BJP will hold strong protests. The MLAs should clarify if their statement is individual or of the Congress party. The silence of the party leaders shows that the party agrees with the statement. The MLAs who support terrorism should be subjected to investigations,” he urged.

Krishna Naika Asarakeri, Parameshwara Devadiga, Dinesh Naika, Dhanyakumara Jain, Venkatesha Naika, Vinod Koppikara, Rajesh Naika, Parshwanatha Jain, Manjunatha Jali, Subraya Devadiga, Pramod Joshi and others were present.
