Puttur: Woman electrocuted inside pump shed at Bilinele

Puttur, May 29: Divyalata (28), wife of Jayaprakash, resident of Yermayil in Bilinele village near Kadaba in the taluk was electrocuted in a tragic incident which occurred on the evening of Saturday May 28.

Divyalata heard a sound which sounded like explosion, from the pump shed located in the garden near her home. She was inside the house then, but rushed to the pump shed immediately to look what had happened. She was electrocuted inside the pump shed.

The victim has left behind her husband and a daughter. Kadaba police, who have registered the case, have begun investigation.

It is said that electrical wiring of a number of houses in Yermayil area was burnt down on Saturday after high tension cable got severed and fell on the low tension cables supplying power to the area. Many electrical appliances too were damaged. Locals said that exactly at this time an explosion was heard from the pump shed of Jayaprakash. Some people also blamed Mescom for not attending to repeated complaint about a nearby transformer's erratic functioning.
