Dammam, May 31: 'Aangann Konknnechem' organized the auditions of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 5 on Friday, 27th May together with 'Konknnecho Dees 2016'. It was a memorable day for the Konkani speaking community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The session began at 11:30 am with registrations by the participants. Ten male and Fourteen female contestants registered for the auditions.
The male contestants were Naveen Madtha, Gerald Maxim Rodrigues, Valerian Nelson Moras, Sydney Menezes, Richard Cardin, Sandeep Vijay Crasta, Steevan Pradeep Barboza, Ralph D’Souza, Aprem Lobo and Naveen Lewis.
Sony Laelitia Menezes, Sharell Lewis, Babitha Rodrigues, Pramila Rodrigues, Savitha Monis, Celine Mascarenhas, Janitha Lewis, Veena D’Souza, Chinnu D’Souza, Jacintha Nazareth, Gretta Sequeira, Sunitha D’Mello, Reema Mathias and Divya D’Souza were the female contestants.
The event was inaugurated by Glen Roshan Lobo, Bondel, President of Aangann Konknnechem, Sponsors Kevin and Mueral Nazareth, Allen and Carol D’Souza, GVOM5 Chairperson Arun D'Souza Palimar, Coordinators Naveen Melwyn D’Souza, Ronald Fernandes, Richard Rodrigues, Richard Cardin and Roshan Rodrigues by lighting the lamp.
Glen Roshan Lobo addressed the audience and Carol D'souza thanked the sponsors for their support towards Konknnecho Dees 2016 and GVOM 5 auditions.
The programme began with a devotional dance by Stevina D'Souza, Palimar to the tune of 'Soglya Srochticha Rochnara'. Prayer was led by Naveen Lewis and Richard Cardin.
The auditions began with female participants followed by male participants.
The judges for the event were Edwin Pinto, Stephen Rodrigues and Roshan Rodrigues.
Edwin Pinto: Hailing from Bale Honnur, Chickmagaluru is working for Saipem Company as General Affairs Coordinator. He has been teaching music for the past 15 years and has judged many contests in different schools and various other groups. His first Devotional album ‘Rochleim Bapa’ was released. He was one of the main Judges at GVOM -3 Semi finals that was held in Riyadh.
Stephen Rodrigues: Hailing from Gurpur, is a Mechanical Engineer, working as a section head for Anabeeb Jubail since 22 years. His interests are in music, drama as well as singing.
Roshan Rodrigues Madantyar, belongs to Bendoor Parish is working as a Technical Director for Al Sayed Group of Industry and Commerce. He started singing at a very young age and led the church choir and now leading Jeddah Prayer Community. He is also the President of Karnataka NRI Forum. His first Music album "Aashelon” was released in 2014. He is well accomplished at playing different musical instruments such as Drums, Congo and the Guitar. He has been the proud recipient of the title of "Voice of Arabia" twice in the past.
The sponsors were felicitated by Arun D'Souza, Palimar. The judges Edwin Pinto, Stephen Rodrigues and Roshan Rodrigues and the contestants of the audition round of GVOM 5 were felicitated by Glen Roshan Lobo and participants of the Cultural program of Konknnecho Dees were felicitated by Kevin and Mueral Nazareth by awarding certificates and mementos. The 6 male and 6 female finalists of the GVOM5 auditions were announced by Cultural Secretary of Aangann Saritha D’Souza Palimar, who was also the MC for the event.

Female: Sony Laelitia D’Souza, Babitha Rodrigues, Pramila Rodrigues, Veena D’Souza, Chinnu D’Souza and Jacintha Nazareth.
On September 30 in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will witness the semi-final round of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore 5’. The male and female winner of the semi-final round will be crowned "Voice of Arabia 2016" and they will represent Saudi Arabia in the finals of GVOM-5. The grand finals will be on Friday, 11th November 2016 at Bahrain Cultural Hall, Manama – Kingdom of Bahrain. ‘Konkni Kutam Bahrain’ and ‘Aangann Konknnechem’ Saudi Arabia will be jointly co hosting the grand finals.
After lunch the Nach-Gayan-Natkulyancho Maell - Konknnecho Dees 2016 started with a foot thumping dance performance by budding dancers: Stevina D'Souza Palimar, Carl D’Souza, Chris D’Souza, Karan Raj, Kiran Raj, Celine Mascarenhas, Freeda Mascarenhas, Sharon Fernandes, Shalom Fernandes, Rishon Fernandes, Ranen Fernandes. Raiden Fernandes, Reanne D’Costa, Sherwin Keith D’Souza, Verina Swidol D’Souza, Glevin Gonsalves, Jennessa D’Souza, Jinnelle D’Souza. Brother and sister duo Vance and Vanessa Saldanha mesmerized the audience with their melodious singing. Konkani Skit was enacted by Roshan Lobo, Carol D’Souza and Rupan Almeida.
Raffle draw winner was announced by Rosy D'souza Shirva, Abu Dhabi . Clarin Preetika D'Souza was felicitated by Roshan Lobo for securing 96.4% in the 12th standard CBSE exam. She is the daughter of Conrad and Juliet Dsouza and was the student of International Indian School, Dammam.
Arun D Souza, Palimar delivered the vote of thanks. Delicious lunch was served to all.
