First stage of Yethinahole project will be complete by 2018 – Veerappa Moily

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (EP)

Bengaluru, May 31: “The work on Yethinahole project has continued. First stage of its work will be complete at the end of 2018,” said former union minister and MP M Veerappa Moily.

Speaking in the rural zilla panchayat awareness and in charge committee meeting held at Bengaluru rural zilla panchayat auditorium on May 30, he said that obstacles for the project are done away with.
“KPTCL and other departments have consented to provide electricity for first stage pump house. There were some objections from forest department which now have been sorted out”, he said.

"Farmers have voluntarily come forward and provided land. 124 acres of land was required for first stage of work. 51 acres land is acquired after paying compensation to the farmers. The deputy commissioner has sent notices for acquisition of remaining land. Farmers have come forward, on their own, to provide land for the water project. The work is in progress and first stage of work will be over by the end of 2018”, he added.

“Prior to the meeting, project superintending engineer Venugopal, central CWC organization, Belgaum's Hydrology Company and other companies have confirmed availability of water. Yethinahole project will make 24 TMC water available in the monsoons. 8 barrages will be constructed in the project. The first 3 barrages will be constructed in Yethinahole, 4th and 5th barrage in Kadumanehole, 6th barrage in Kerihole, 7th barrage in Hongaladalla and 8th barrage in the basement of Yethinahole” he explained.

“In the blue print of the project, it was mentioned that distribution trough will be constructed at Devarayana Durga. As the area belonged to forest department that created confusion and controversy among all that the forest department has not given permission. The confusion is cleared,” Moily said.

“There was a complaint from some people that 24 TMC water will not be available. Most companies have given in writing that 24 TMC water will be available during rainy season. Water will not be lifted continuously from Yethinahole. It will be lifted only from June to October, ” he concluded.

Deputy Commissioner S Palayya, zilla panchayat CEO Shailaja, zilla panchayat president Prasad, vice president Ananthakumari were present.

The monsoon is expected to arrive now and hopely will be normal and last till September. Till the end of monsoon, all the anxiety and sufferings of the people of Mangalore will be forgotten and no efforts will be made as far as scrapping Yettinahole is concerned. Then suddenly in October, our politicians will get up and start talking about water scarcity and if we are proceeding according to plans imposed on us, be prepared for a more severe water scarcity to hit us by December 2016 or January 2017. Sincerely hope that the people of Mangalore dump Moily, Gowda, Rai, Kateel and all our MLAS in the next coming elections and boycott the elections because all these so called representatives actually don't represent us at all but only their business and financial interests. That's all that matters to them. They come to power on our patronage and ruin the lives of the people who vote them to power. Time for some major shock treatment for them! If the response of the people to the recent bandh in DK is anything to go by, then all who stand in the next elections should be seriously worried about their fate!

Let's all join hands and make out state a Congress Mukhth State and once done , it will be few days and months bharath will be d Swach Bharath ( I mean Congress Mukhth Bharath).... please join hands...

What business Moily has to comment on Yettinahole. He is a mere MP and what authority gives to say Yettinahole will be completed. In fact he is challenging the poeple of D K.

I don’t think there is any risk to DK, we have so much of water reaching the sea which could do miracle in dry places like Kolar and Chikkaballapur. The entire episode is a propaganda by Janardhan Poojary supporters to malign Moily and Nalin Kateel. I’ve also heard about strong lobby from Gundya based private power production companies who are worried about this project slowing down water flow.

Nalin who led Morcha earlier is quiet now. why?
What about other MLA's of twin districts?
People are closely watching. They got a trailer of water problem this season and are very serious.

Please now all should stop the blame game and need to think positively how we can implement this project without affecting us (D.K ) and should benefit to Dry land places(kolara, chikkaballapura).
why iam telling this because this is project is already started and more than 50% work got completed and huge amount of money already spent. So now if we shout, cry ,past, sucide there is no use (100% sure).
If we think vely if they pump water 10 or 100 pipes from june to Nov we wont face any problem.(100% sure). So now our demand should be make a strict law or whatever such that the should pump the water from JUN to NOV only.
Please take it ve and give ur sugestions if u have any thing else.

Readers please understand that once project is initiated they will pump for next 200-300 years. For that time our dk district will be turned to desert land? Please demand to reserve 1 litre of water for every 1 litre they pump. So that our people interests are reserved.

Mr. Moily initiated this project as he had promised the voters of Chickballapur about diverting water from his district. It is a known fact that Moily wont win again from there. DK voters will see that he is defeated if he stands from Mangalore.

Where was Moily when DK was reeling without drinking water ?? Is he enjoying life at the cost of the tax payer ??

People of Mangalore are generous enough to divert water that flows to the sea, to Chikkaballapur and surrounding areas, which can be done through pumping, laying down pipelines, construction of tanks and reservoirs. But what is the necessity to divert the Nathravati River at such an enormous cost which will destroy the environment and ecology in the region?

The biggest enemies of congress are not in other parties but within Congress itself. After looking into the recent protests even a dumb politician would not have dared to make this statement. Anyway this guy contests from Chikballapur so he is not worried about his seat but UT Khadar will have to pay the price for his recent comments on this project.
