Nice to see the Don Bosco Club, Puttur, recognizing the people behind the success of “Putturchem Nektre”. Congratulations to all.

DBC, Puttur has been in the fore front in uniting, motivating and nurturing the talents of youths/young adults since its inception in 1967. I am proud to be a founding member of the club at the age of 16. It was the age where children were brought up with apprehension with beatings from parents, teachers and priests. It was "Spare the rod, spoil the kid" age. One couldn’t question the Status Quo during those days. Formation of DBC has given a platform for the youths to voice their concerns, show their talents and bring out new ideas. I am one of the beneficiaries of the Club.

I was an active member of the club for 14 years. During those years it was the skillful leadership of Chennigar Lawrence Mascarenhas, John Cutinha, Michael D’Souza, et. al, kept the club running smoothly.

For the last 50 years, there were so many social projects have been undertaken by the Club without seeking funding from the Government or Diocese. Karnataka Government has earmarked Rs.100 crores for Christian community and it is about time that DBC should approach the concerned authorities to get some grants for their upcoming mega project of building 500 toilets.

    Wish you all the best.
