Mangaluru: Factions come to blows in Ullal Dargah again, six injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 4: During the meeting held at Ullal Dargah on Friday June 3, two groups fought a pitched battle with each other, resulting in injuries to six. All the six were admitted into a private hospital at Thokkottu.

Those who bore the brunt of the attack and suffered injuries were Syed Ziyad Tangal (40) from Alekala, Tahir (63), and U D Ashraf (41) from Mukkacheri, Ravoof (52) from Alekala, Abdul Aziz Kody (43), and Shamir Muhammed Mukkacheri (37).

This was the first ever meeting to have been held after a truce was struck and new president was chosen for the Dargah committee. Ziyad Tangal, who was one of the injured, told the media persons that a gang of 15 including K N Muhammed Alekala, Jaldi Siddique Bandikotya, Ashraf, Saleem, Bava, Naushad Melangady etc attacked those whom they picked for this treatment as they belonged to a rival faction. "As per the instructions of the Kazi, we went to the meeting. We saw that many people who were not members of the committee were present there. As soon as our group reached the meeting, we were beaten up," Ziyad said. He also alleged that the committee was not formed as per bylaw and that people were picked at the whims and fancies of a few people without holding election in Madani Nagara and Azad Nagar Mohalla. He requested the Wakf committee to intervene and see that justice is done.

The other faction which participated in the meeting claimed that people who had come together at the meeting venue demanded for sending out those committee members who vandalized the meeting held 15 days back. When Dargah committee president, Rashid Ullal, requested the concerned to go out, a verbal friction ensued between the public and these members. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to dismiss members who created trouble at the meeting held at Kazi Bhavan from their memberships of the committee, said Farooq Ullal, member of the committee.

A complaint about the current incident was filed in Ullal police station.

Islam is against worshipping anybody or anything except Allah. Even Holy Prophet’s (sa) tomb is not worshipped, circumambulated nor flowers or chaaders offered because it is Shirk i.e. making partners to one and only God called Allah. Shirk is considered to be the greatest sin in Islam. Those who do Haj and Umra are well aware of this fact. At present building Dargas and conducting Urs in the name of dead human beings has become a fashion and a money minting device. Naturally, when some un-Islamic rituals are practiced, Satan is bound to support such acts and quarrels and goonda-gardies are bound to happen. Ullal Darga and innumerable other dargas which have mushroomed throughout the lengths and breadths of the country should be closed down and Muslims taught to worship one and only God, as taught in the Holy Quran.

Group fighting under guise of saving values of Sunny sect is utter deplorable. In fact these so called learned people dividing community for vested interest. These type of unrest especially in undivided districts of DK/Udupi creates law and order problem.Police need to take stern action and if situation warrants slapping GOONDA ACT might be right decision to stop fighting for trivial reasons.
