Mangaluru: Coast experiences cloudy weather, light drizzle

Mangaluru, Jun 4: Many areas in Dakshina Kannada district had experienced torrential rain on Thursday night. However, the weather remained cloudy thorughout Friday with occasional drizzle at some places.

Beltangady, Bantwal, and Puttur taluks had reported heavy rain on Thursday night. On Friday, most of the places did not get any rain, and even where it was reported, only light drizzle was what they got. The meteorological department too has said that chances of rain in the coast between June 4 and 87 are bleak. It has predicted occasional clouds and drizzle here and there during this period.

In a report received with delay, it is learnt that the office of Damaskatte church near Kinnigoli suffered extensively after lightning struck on the night of Wednesday. Computer and electrical appliances were damaged due to lightning. Similar damage was also inflicted on the house of Benedict D'Silva at Kammaje near Kinnigoli, and a report about the loss was made to Mulky tahsildar.
