Holy month of Ramadan begins in Coastal Karnataka

Bhatkal, Jun 6: With the crescent moon being sighted at Calicut in Kerala on Sunday, June 5, the fragrance of the blessed month of Ramadan began across the Coastal Karnataka.


The holy month of Ramadan will be observed from Monday June 6.

It is believed that every Muslim feels the sensation of excitement the blessed month brings with it.

To reach the month of Ramadan and strive in worship in it is one of the greatest blessings from Allah, as per the Holy Quran.

The official announcement in Bhatkal was made Qazi of Jamatul Muslimeen, Moulana Mulla Mohammed Iqbal Nadwi and the Qazi of Khalifa Jamatul Muslimeen, Moulana Khwaja Madani Nadwi officially declared the start of the month of Ramadan.

In most of the places of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kasargod including Mangaluru city, the announcements regarding the arrival of Ramadan have been already made.

Night prayers during Ramadan (Taraveeh) will begin from today which will be led by Huffas of Bhatkal. There are more than 80 Mosques in Bhatkal.
