Mangaluru: Pandeshwar police arrest 6 young robbers, seize stolen items

Mangaluru, Jun 8: Police from Pandeshwar police station on Wednesday, June 8 arrested 6 robbers in city.

Sarfuddin (19) from Bunder, Mohammed Ramlan (20) from Faisalnagar, Shaikh Mohammed Dafan (19) from Krishnapura, Mohamed Arif Faizal (19) from Krishnapura, Salman Faris (19) from Kallapu, and Sayad Nimar Hashmi (19) from Falnir were the persons arrested .


The arrests were made under the guidance of Shantharam with the help of other police personnel.

Police seized camera worth Rs 70,000, gold jewellery worth Rs 48,000, mobile phone worth Rs 12,000 and the scooter worth Rs 50,000 used for the crime, from the accused.

The arrests were made in relation to the robbery that had taken place on the night of June 5.

Gunaprasad (24) from Uppinangadi, who works as photographer for a studio located at Kavoor, was forcibly taken away by these 6 accused to near railway tracks on Goods Shed Road where he was robbed.

A camera, a golden chain weighing 18 grams worth Rs 48,000, Rs 1,500 in cash, two ATM cards of Karnataka Bank and another of Saraswat Bank, purse, and a mobile were snatched away from the possession of Gunaprasad.

The victim was returning towards State Bank after visiting a temple, when he was attacked. Initially, three persons stopped him in the guise of seeking details of some address. By then, three more scooter-borne youngsters joined them. All the six then forcibly took Gunaprasad to near the railway tracks and beat him up with hands. Thereafter, three of them held him tight, while the other three relieved him of his belongings.

Gunaprasad had filed a complaint about the robbery in Pandeshwar police station.
