Udupi, Jun 13: Karnataka State Government New Pension Scheme Employees Association of the district, organized a district level convention for the first time at Rajangana, near Sri Krishna math here on Sunday June 12.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Pejawar math inaugurated the convention by lighting the lamp and launched the association’s emblem on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering he said, "The state government should find a proper solution. There is need for public support along with God’s blessings to meet the demands. Lord Sri Krishna’s message is a guide for all. Honest service for the nation is equal to worshipping God. Employees play a crucial role in smooth functioning of the system. Labourers, employees and soldiers are important for the nation’s development. Retired employees must spend their leisure time peacefully."

"The government is flexible in its functioning. We can change it as we desire. If politicians pay proper attention to solving problems, most of the problems will be solved at the right time."

"It is the duty of the government to provide proper facilities to all employees."

"A nation can develop by mutual co-operation between government and employees."

The state president Shantaram alleged, "The government is investing a small percent of the employees’ money in the share market in the name of strengthening the economic system."

He saw the need for employees benefits and even after their retirement they should get pension according to old pension scheme. The old system of pension must be continued, otherwise members will opt for a massive protest in the coming days. Nearly 1.5 lac NPS employees are in the state and by now 300-400 NPS employees are no more.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary assured the employees association of his and his party's support at all times.

Subrahmanya Sherigar, district president, Udupi, Harish S Poojary, treasurer, Perdur, Ramachandra Vakuda, district secretary, Ravi Kumar, president, Udupi Taluk and others were present.

Prashant Shetty Havanje welcomed the gathering, Ravi S Poojary Baikady proposed the vote of thanks.
