Beltangady, Jun 24: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, A B Ibrahim, instructed the tahsildar to demolish an illegal building standing illegally on the road margin at Killur in Mittabagilu village in the taluk since long.

During the programme organized at the taluk office here by the deputy commissioner on Thursday to receive complaints from the general public, a social activist, Shekhar Laila, drew his attention to the fact that the said building has been allowed to continue there, and that the revenue department has merely registered a case against the concerned.

When the deputy commissioner questioned tahsildar, V Prasannamurthy, he was told that the building owner has promised to bring down the building on his own within 15 days. The deputy commissioner asked the tahsildar to demolish the building within ten days without waiting for the owner to do it.
