Mangalore: BJP Agitation for Bangalore - Mangalore Train Service

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (KD/NR)

Mangalore, Nov 10: An agitation will be launched from November 20 informed BJP’s State unit president D V Sadananda Gowda for the introduction of passenger train services between Bangalore and Mangalore.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, Nov 9 he said that people had lost faith in the promises made by politicians, including those from BJP. However, according to Gowda his party had made promises based on the assurances, made by the railway ministers and authorities. He clarified the party stand on the matter that the railways had till date not responded to the letter written by him on the issue.

The reaction of the Railway board chairman K C Jena to the BJP’s elected representative was improper and not in keeping with the prestige of his high office. He charged that the railway authorities failed to hear the grievances of the elected representatives and now when his party has planned to launch an agitation, this plan has evoked the ire of one of the authorities, declared Sadananda Gowda.

Minister of state railway R Velu said in Bangalore that rain services between Bangalore and Mangalore would begin by November 15. He further informed that he had written to the railways after that statement to get a confirmation but there was no response.

In view of all these developments, according to Gowda the party now has no other option but to launch an agitation. He therefore sought the cooperation of the people as it would cause inconvenience to them. The details of the agitation will be announced in a couple of days, he added.

I wonder whether Mr. Gowda has just woken up from his long sleep. Can he tell us what he has done to fight for rail users or repair the roads between Mangalore and Bangalore when his party was in power in the state for the last 20 months?

Any amount of agitation or protest is not enough to wake up the political and railway bigwigs. Shame on them. They know only to make promises and they think that they can fool all the people, all the time. For the last three years they have been promising to start the train and I am sure nothing is going to happen. Their bulging bellies are still not full with the ill-gotten money. Since most of the buses belong to the shameless and money hungry politicians, there is hardly any chance of the commencement of the train service between Bangalore and Mangalore. All the three major roads which connect these cities are in deplorable condiition. What does the government do with the hefty taxes they collect for the registration of the vehicles - one of the highest in the country.
