Accused in Congress leader murder case killed in broad daylight

Vijayapura, Jul 9: Miscreants rained bullets on a person accused of murdering youth Congress leader, Fayaz Mushrif, near KSRTC workshop here on Friday July 8. They then hacked him to death with lethal weapons.

Sabir Patel (48), a resident of Haveligalli in the city, stands killed in this incident. Patel had been identified as main accused in the murder of Mushrif, which happened 18 months ago. Sabir, who had absconded after the murder, had been arrested by the policemen. Thereafter, he had remained in judicial custody.

After remaining in jail for several months, Patel had been released on bail six days back on account of Ramzan festival. On Friday evening, he was going in his motor bike when assailants followed him in a car and fired several bullets at him. When he collapsed on the road, the miscreants indiscriminately jabbed and sliced him with lethal weapons. His hand was separated from the body in this attack.

The police visited the spot, shifted the body to district hospital, and undertook investigation.
