M'lore: Contributions of Veterans Towards Konkani Growth Lauded

Mangalore, Nov 18: ‘Konkani language has grown along with its distinct culture.  Those who have contributed their mite for its existence and growth, should not be forgotten’, said K K Pai, chairman, Dr T M A Pai Foundation, Manipal.

He was speaking at the preliminary programme which was held recently at Town Hall in the city, at the backdrop of staging 50th show of ‘Nandadeepa’ drama, at Mumbai on Saturday, November17, organized by Konkani Triveni Kalasangama. 


Innumerable of veterans have strived for the growth of Konkani, literature, culture, traditions and practice.  Some of them have contributed by setting up drama ventures, while few of them set up cultural ventures and abandoned after going through financial constraints.  There are many in significant numbers who have contributed for literature, art and their resources, he emphasized on the rich contributions made by the past veterans for the sake of Konkani.


MLA S Yogish Bhat, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy past president, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Corporation Bank, Chairman, Sambamurthy, CEO, K L Gopalakrishna, Supreme Court judge, M V Kini, wee the chief guests present.
Ullas Kamath welcomed.  Dr C S Shenoy compered the programme.

The guests, veterans of community and dramatists of ‘Nandadeepa’ were honoured at the same occasion.
